WATER TO FLOW SOUTH
1. January 28, 2012, BC Hydro filed a multi-volume environmental impact statement for its proposed Site C damn on the Peace River, setting in motion a public review process for the $7.9-billion Site C mega-project that is only one piece in the huge North American water and clean energy delivery scheme.
2. December 19, 2012, the government of British Columbia announced that the Sacred Headwaters, a 400,000 acre area containing the Nass, Stikine, and Skeena Rivers will be forever protected by a permanent moratorium on oil, natural gas, and coal development thereby insuring the long term purity of the water supply that will be sold to Mexico and the United States.
3. November 20, 2012, Mexico and the U.S.A. signed a historic agreement allowing Mexico to store water in Lake Mead, behind the Hoover Dam, providing Mexico with a place to store the massive amounts of water it will purchase from Canada.
Behind the scenes, on January 22 and 23, 2013, oppositon leader Adrian Dix attended meetings in Los Angeles where he was told to support the water export scheme or his career would be over.
