Premier Gordon Campbell and former Premier Bill Vander Zalm are in the middle of a very public brawl over a new form of sales tax the British Columbia Government intends to impose.
In a less public venue, the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Federal Court of Canada, Premier Gordon Campbell is defending at least two major lawsuits where corruption under Premier Bill Vander Zalm is a central issue.
The problem for Premier Gordon Campbell is that his public duty has been compromised by his private allegiances.
If Premier Gordon Campbell he goes after former Premier Vander Zalm and exposes former Premier Vander Zalm for corruption related to the Water War Crimes then he will be putting at risk some of his closest supporters connected to the old Social Credit Party of Premier Bill Bennett and, possibly, Bill Bennett himself, because, if the Water War Crimes reached their zenith under Bill Vander Zalm, they were, most certainly, put in motion by the regime of Premier Bill Bennett with special "illegal" favours for a company, namely, W.C.W. Western Canada Water Enterprises Ltd.,with very close links to the Social Credit movers and shakers, who governed British Columbia for 40 years from 1953 to 1993 (subject to a brief 3 year intermission of socialists 1973 to 1976).
Names like Peter Brown, Lyall Knott, Patrick Kinsella, Paul Fraser, John Reynolds, Brian Smith, and Stan Hagen, are closely linked to W.C.W. Western Canada Water Enterprises Ltd. and to Premier Gordon Campbell.
Peter Brown, Lyall Knott, Patrick Kinsella, and Paul Fraser, have been strong and loyal supporters of Premier Gordon Campbell but they also played a role in persuading the the Social Credit cabinet of Bill Vander Zalm to adopt measures that had the practical effect of lessening competition and creating a monopoly in the bulk water sales market in California in an apparent violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.
John Reynolds, Brian Smith, and Stan Hagen, were cabinet ministers in the cabinet of Bill Vander Zalm.
So, what is poor Gordon Campbell to do???
Will he continue to use his position and power to and abet possible criminals to avoid prosecution??
Or, will he order the British Columbia prosecution service to begin the process of bringing criminal charges against his friends and cronies who participated in the crimes, put him in office and expected his ongoing loyalty.

Premier Gordon Campbell and former Premier Bill Vander Zalm are in the middle of a very public brawl over a new form of sales tax the British Columbia Government intends to impose.
In a less public venue, the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Federal Court of Canada, Premier Gordon Campbell is defending at least two major lawsuits where corruption under Premier Bill Vander Zalm is a central issue.
The problem for Premier Gordon Campbell is that his public duty has been compromised by his private allegiances.
If Premier Gordon Campbell he goes after former Premier Vander Zalm and exposes former Premier Vander Zalm for corruption related to the Water War Crimes then he will be putting at risk some of his closest supporters connected to the old Social Credit Party of Premier Bill Bennett and, possibly, Bill Bennett himself, because, if the Water War Crimes reached their zenith under Bill Vander Zalm, they were, most certainly, put in motion by the regime of Premier Bill Bennett with special "illegal" favours for a company, namely, W.C.W. Western Canada Water Enterprises Ltd.,with very close links to the Social Credit movers and shakers, who governed British Columbia for 40 years from 1953 to 1993 (subject to a brief 3 year intermission of socialists 1973 to 1976).
Names like Peter Brown, Lyall Knott, Patrick Kinsella, Paul Fraser, John Reynolds, Brian Smith, and Stan Hagen, are closely linked to W.C.W. Western Canada Water Enterprises Ltd. and to Premier Gordon Campbell.
Peter Brown, Lyall Knott, Patrick Kinsella, and Paul Fraser, have been strong and loyal supporters of Premier Gordon Campbell but they also played a role in persuading the the Social Credit cabinet of Bill Vander Zalm to adopt measures that had the practical effect of lessening competition and creating a monopoly in the bulk water sales market in California in an apparent violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.
John Reynolds, Brian Smith, and Stan Hagen, were cabinet ministers in the cabinet of Bill Vander Zalm.
So, what is poor Gordon Campbell to do???
Will he continue to use his position and power to and abet possible criminals to avoid prosecution??
Or, will he order the British Columbia prosecution service to begin the process of bringing criminal charges against his friends and cronies who participated in the crimes, put him in office and expected his ongoing loyalty.
Our bet is that Premier Gordon Campbell will take the cowards way out and resign by September.
