Law Society of British Columbia
President Tim McGee resigned September 2017
Lawyers and the public in British Columbia have been badly served by the Law Society which has become an arm of organized crime working inside the British Columbia Ministry of the Attorney General.
The photo here is Tim McGee, the former CEO of the Law Society of British Columbia.
When asked to investigate documentary proof of WaterWarCrimes carried out by members of the Law Society of British Columbia working within the Ministry of the Attorney General for British Columbia, Mr. McGee turned a blind eye thereby contributing to the continuing corruption of government in the Province.
The Law Society of British Columbia has a very poor record defending lawyers who, exercising their right of free speech, criticize crooked politicians, crooked judges or crooked civil servants.
In 1994 when prominent Vancouver lawyer Jack Cram called members of the local judiciary corrupt he was suspended from the Law Society.
In 1997, when Comox Valley lawyer John Carten accused the Ministry of the Attorney General of committing criminal acts, that are now proven by internal government documents, the Law Society tried to silence him by threatening disbarment.
In 2001, when Okanagan Valley lawyer, Karl Eisbrenner, blew the whistle on political corruption involving members of Gordon Campbell's Liberal Party he was disbarred by the Law Society.and was labelled delusional by a Law Society psychiatrist in what can fairly be called a fraudulent medical / legal attempt to discredit what Mr. Eisbrenner and his clients, 188 senior citizens, had filed in court proceedings. Although there were over 100 articles in local newspapers in the Okanagan Valley about the shady land dealings between the Government and the political people involved, the major media in Canada protected Gordon Campbell and his Liberal team by never printing a word about it. Mr. Eisbrenner died in a car accident in 2006.
In case after case, where lawyers blow the whistle on political or judicial corruption the Law Society attempts to shut them down, often using crooked psychiatrists in the process.
When Comox Valley lawyer, John Carten attempted to rejoin the Law Society in 2005, although he had never been suspended or disbarred and had an excellent record with over 22 years of excellent service to his clients, he was asked to undergo a psychiatric assessment.
Law Society lawyer, Herman Van Ommen, who had been involved in the take down of Jack Cram and Karl Esibrenner, hired Vancouver psychiatrist Dr. Steve Kline as part of the take out strategy on Mr. Carten. Dr. Kline, contrary to well established medical ethics and practice, without ever seeing Carten or his medical records, wrote a medical-legal opinion letter for Van Ommen suggesting Carten "may be suffering from an unrecognized major mental disorder" (something that could be said about everyone) but, when under the signature of one of Vancouver's leading psychiatrists, can be a very effective dirty tactic in litigation.
Van Ommen delivered that letter as part of his legal strategy but the strategy failed because Mr. Carten immediately took the letter to his family doctor for an second opinion. The doctor advised Mr. Carten that Dr. Steve Kline's this opinion was worthless and warned Carten that what the Law Society was proposing, a psychiatric assessment, was a very, very, dangerous course of action and strongly recommended against it.
Aware of the fraudulent use of psychiatrists by the Law Society in Cram and Eisbrenner cases, the Law Society tactic was shown to be a fraud when the Law Society refused to an offer that a psychiatric assessment be carried out by an independent psychiatrist in Washington State, Oregon or California and responded by saying that only an assessment by its handpicked psychiatrist would be acceptable. The trap was exposed for what it was.
Dr. Kline, the Law Society of British Columbia and Mr. Van Ommen have been named as Defendants in Federal Court Action T-95-08

Howard Kushner - Former Chief Legal Officer for the
Law Society of British Columbia
Howard Kushner is the consummate bureaucrat. He left the University of Toronto Law School back in 1970's and, after a brief stint at the Fabian Socialist organization in London, England, known as the London School of Economics, Mr. Kushner worked for either the Government of British Columbia, its state controlled Law Society, the Government of the Yukon or the Government of Alberta.
As Chief Legal Officer to the Law Society of British Columbia, Howard Kushner must be presumed to have guided the Law Society to continue its strategy of character assassination by psychiatry against Mr. Carten. This was some of the dumbest legal advice a lawyer ever provided to his client because it provoked a legal war that has seen nine judges, (See the Graveyard of the Wicked), one former civil servant (See Jack Ebbels page) and one BC cabinet Minister (Stan Hagen) drop dead. It also caused a whole lot of damage to some very innocent people for which Mr. Kushner has earned some very bad karma.
In January 2010, Mr. Kushner quietly move to the Law Society of Alberta where has become the Deputy Executive Director - Regulations.

Deborah Armour Replaced Howard Kushner In February 2010.
In February 2010, Deborah Armour took over from Howard Kushner as Chief Legal Officer for the Law Society of British Columbia.
Most recently Deborah was Director of Legal and Compliance Services for Powerex Corporation, responsible for overseeing the in-house legal group and implementing a regulatory compliance program. Prior to joining Powerex, Deborah worked as a Senior Vice President at Raymond James Ltd. and as General Counsel of the Vancouver Stock Exchange.
She also worked for the Vancovuer law frim of Fasken Martineau Dumoulin the same firm that employed some key players in the WaterWarCrimes, such as former Chief Justice Allan McEachern, former Attorney General Geoff Plant, and former Deputy Attorney General now Deputy Premier Allan Seckel.
The following background information provides a glimpse of the "corporate culture" that Ms. Armour comes out of:
"BC Hydro's electricity trading subsidiary, Powerex, was named in court filings in California last week as one of two companies in addition to Enron facing criminal charges for fraudulently manipulating electricity costs in that state"

The Vancouver Stock Exchange in an a league by itself.
"Criticism about stock swindles prompted cleanup of the Vancouver exchange in the late 1990's. In 1999, the Vancouver exchange merged with the Alberta Stock Exchange -- the very place, according to du Plessis and even some staff members of the new exchange, where some of the companies fleeing stricter new Vancouver rules ended up".
Now they have teamed up with two other small exchanges and are known as the Canadian Venture Exchange, or CDNX.
"Nothing has changed," du Plessis said. "It's all the same crap. In a way, the Vancouver Stock Exchange today has done what most of its scam companies have done when they get discredited. It's changed its name and is portraying itself as a new being."
